The Interpretation of a Horoscope Cast by Abraham the Jew in Béziers for a Child Born on 29 November 1135: An Essay in Understanding a Medieval Astrologer

Helena Avelar, with an introduction by Charles Burnett

Abstract

This article analyses the horoscope written by a certain 'Abraham Judeus' at Béziers for a child born in 1135. It shows that, given the positions of the heavenly bodies and the astrologer's interpretation, one can work out how the astrologer arrived at his judgments, using the standard astrological doctrine of the time.
